For Jonathon, the staging involved knife combat cued by the orchestra, five carefully timed blood-pack releases in each show, and a multi-level set.

This was Jonathon's first production with the Royal Opera House.
Director Richard Jones depicts the conflict between Boris' public persona and his private guilt through a set in which the murder of the Tsarevitch, Dmitry, is ritually re-enacted in a high vaulted room.
The exceptional production team also included Gerard Jones as Associate Director and Danielle Urbas as Movement Director.
